A three-wheeler that was travelling on the Kiridadupe bridge in the Imaduwa Watawana area has broken the bridge and fell into the river.

At the time of the bridge collapse, a woman was travelling with her two children in the three-wheeler and all of them, including the driver, escaped with minor injuries, according to local residents.

Due to the collapse of this bridge, around 100 houses have become inaccessible and due to the lack of an alternative route, the villagers of Kiridadupe are in great difficulty.

Was planned to build bridge at this place under the government’s one lakh bridge programme, but the bridge has not been built yet.

Today, the villagers themselves had started the restoration of this bridge, which was made of planks used by the villagers for many decades. (Lankadeepa)
