Ceylon Electricity Board says that the amount of water released from Samanalaweva Reservoir to Udawalawa Reservoir will have to be reduced. They point out that due to the formation of eddies on the road that takes water to the turbines along with the decrease in the water level, the speed of operation of the generators had to be reduced, and therefore few megawatts are generated from the generators.
It is reported that 7.5 million cubic litres of water have been released from the Samanala Lake and the capacity of the Samanala Lake Reservoir is currently at 8%.
