As a solution to the daily traffic jams in Colombo city, a passenger boat service operated by solar panels has been started from Battaramulla Diyatha Uyana and Aggona Heenaticumbura to Wellawatta.
Also, Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that such boat services are expected to be started in the inland waterways of Colombo city in the near future.
It is said that these boats can reach Wellawatta from Battaramulla Water Park and Heenatikumbura within 30 minutes.
Also, from Battaramulla to Wellawatta, an amount of 200 rupees will be charged from one person, and from Aggona, Heinatikumbura to Wellawatta, an amount of 300 rupees will be charged from one person.
This boat service operates during daily office hours and it is said that one boat has the capacity to provide transportation facilities for 8 people.
