The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that by August 2022, arrears of 7,200 million rupees will be collected from all water consumers.
They say that there are about 18,000 people who have not made any payment in a year with arrears of more than 5000 rupees and they have an outstanding amount of 360 million rupees.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board further stated that the arrears of the ministers are around 12 million rupees and the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration has given instructions to disconnect the water supply within two months if there are arrears when coming to renew their housing contracts.
According to the officials, 5000 million rupees should be collected from the outstanding amount from the household customers.
