The 20-year-old flight communication system, which was used so far for air operations, was removed and the world’s most high-tech flight operation system was installed by the airport and air services company in the Katunayake flight control room.
Accordingly, it has all the modern technical tools and facilities required to maintain safe flight operations in Sri Lanka’s airspace.
The Minister of Ports, Maritime Affairs and Aviation Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva participated in the official launch of this high-tech communication system on the 26th and the first call was made from Katunayake to the main air traffic control tower in Ratmalana.
