The Nuwara Eliya Police have mentioned that a bowser transporting diesel fuel from Nuwara Eliya to Kappatipola and Welimada ran off the road in the Haggala Maha Wanguwa area of ​​Nuwara Eliya and the driver and assistant were injured and admitted to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital.

The Bowser transported diesel fuel from Colonna to Nuwara Eliya after releasing fuel to the fuel stations in Nuwara Eliya city, and then to the fuel stations in Kappatipola and Welimada areas when the Bowser was running to release fuel to the fuel stations in the areas of Kappatipola and Welimada, last night in Maha Wangua area near Haggala Botanical Garden. At about 12 o’clock and the police said that the accident happened when Bowser’s car overturned in the area with a bend and fell into a vegetable field located on a steep slope of about 20 meters.

At the time of the accident, there were about 13,000 litres of diesel in Bowser’s car, the police said that fuel leaked from Bowser’s car, that the leaked fuel was collected in buckets and cans by local residents and that another stock of fuel had leaked into the environment.

A resident of Haggala mentioned that there have been many accidents in the Maha Wangua area in the past few times.

The police said that Bowser’s car was severely damaged in the accident. (Neth News)
