With the death of the queen in recent days, we got to see more talk about her. Today we are getting ready to go on a tour around her favourite home, Buckingham Palace in England.

1. Walls made of fossils!

Fossils are buried in the walls of Buckingham Palace. The reason is the oolitic limestone used to make them. Oolitic limestone is a sedimentary rock made up of small spherical clusters, which was used to build not only Buckingham Palace but also the Empire State Building and the Pentagon in America. Fossils belonging to the Jurassic period have been buried in these rocks. That is, the walls of Buckingham Palace are made of small fossilized stones that are about 200 million years old.

2. 1,514 places to exit the palace

Finding an exit at Buckingham Palace is easy. The reason is that this palace has 1,514 doors. If you want to jump out of a window, there are 760 windows to choose from.

3. What is the Union Jack?

When the Queen is not in the palace, the Union Jack, the national flag of the United Kingdom, is raised in the palace. This way everyone can know if she is in the palace or not. If you want to know if the new King Charles is in the palace, you have to look at Union Jack.

4. So many sandwiches?

Buckingham Palace guests eat a lot of sandwiches! The royal family hosts at least three garden parties every summer in Buckingham Palace’s 39-acre private garden. It is said that more than 20,000 sandwiches are prepared for the guests at every party.

5. A city full of modern facilities!

Buckingham Palace is a big palace that can be thought of as a small city. There are all kinds of facilities that the residents need for daily life. Inside the palace, there is a post office, a cinema, a police station, a health clinic, a swimming pool and even an ATM in the basement!

6. Secret tunnels?

Many believe that Buckingham Palace has secret underground passageways and tunnels. Rumour has it that some of these will go to Parliament. According to a legend, King George VI and the Queen went to explore one of the tunnels and met a man who lived there.

7. 775 rooms?

We all know that a royal palace is usually a place with a large number of rooms. But there is no official mention of how many rooms there are in Buckingham Palace. But according to unofficial news, there are 775 rooms. It is said that there are 200 bedrooms among these rooms. So really, why there are so many rooms, you can’t even imagine. Many rooms are not used. Some rooms were roofed after being used once by guests from other countries. It is also mentioned that there are 78 bathrooms.
