The Talangama Police says that they arrested four people who were told to be brokers on the day before yesterday (1) on suspicion of extorting money of thousands of rupees and forging documents by claiming that the Department of Immigration & Emigration located at the Business Office in Battaramulla can help people who come to get foreign passports.
A senior police officer in the area told Lankadeepa that the four were arrested on suspicion of preparing fake documents, extorting money for that purpose and possessing foreign passports.
Police said the arrested suspects are residents of Malambe Wattala and Colombo 11 areas. A team of Talangama police officers are conducting further investigations regarding the arrested suspects.
Talangama police said that they will continue to carry out operations to arrest the brokers hanging around the immigration department. (Lankadeepa)
