According to Zimbabwe, there is insufficient justification for a report on Sri Lanka’s human rights status to be submitted to the International Human Rights Council.
Stuart Harold Comberbach, Zimbabwe’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, stated that his country will stand with Sri Lanka and reject any Council action against it.
According to him, the resolution against Sri Lanka was not created with the wishes of the nation in mind and does not support the Council’s function in advancing and defending human rights. The ambassador of Zimbabwe said that the conflict that has plagued Sri Lanka for more than 30 years is over. He has said that the pertinent Council decision does not need to be kept on the agenda.
