The Colombo High Court set a new pre-trial date for the case brought against drug lord Gampola Vidanage Samantha Kumara alias ‘Wele Suda’, who is now serving a death sentence for the alleged possession of guns. Judge Navaratne Marasinghe of the Colombo High Court heard the case.
Wele Suda was accused by the attorney general of having a revolver and a T56 gun on or about April 24, 2006, in the Boralesgamuwa region. Two accusations linked to violating the Gun Ordinance Act, which is a crime punishable under the Penal Code, were brought in this case. Kapila Waidyaratne, President’s Counsel, appeared on behalf of the prosecution. (Daily News)
