The Department of Meteorology says that the current rain conditions across the island can be expected for the next few days. The department stated that rain or thundershowers may occur at places after 1.00 pm today (May 03) in most parts of the island, and rain may also occur in the coastal areas of Western and Southern provinces and Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Puttalam districts in the morning.
Some places in Eastern and Uva Provinces and Polonnaruwa District may experience heavy rains of about 100 mm, and some places in the rest of the island may experience heavy rains of more than 75 mm. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
