The Department of Meteorology says that there may be rain from time to time in Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Matale district.
Hambantota and Polonnaruwa districts may experience several periods of rain, while western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts may experience scattered showers or thunderstorms in the evening or at night.
In some places in Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in Batticaloa, Ampara and Badulla districts, there is a possibility of heavy rain of about 50 mm.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
