The Department of Meteorology says that the depression in the South West Bay of the Bengal sea area has entered the island from the east coast and is passing through Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, it is expected that it will move to the western sea area of Sri Lanka today (26), said the department.
Due to this, there will be rain or thunder from time to time in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, South, North-West and Northern provinces and some places will receive possible heavy rains above 100 mm.
In the rest of the areas, there will be several periods of rain and It is said that there is a possibility of strong winds of around (40-50)kph.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
