The depression is likely to move westwards and move north-westwards and reach South Andhra and North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts and this system is likely to weaken gradually during the next 12 hours, the Meteorological Department said.
In Uva province and Ampara district there may be rain or thundershowers in a few places in the evening or at night.
The department further stated that there is mainly rainless weather on the rest of the island.
