The Department of Meteorology says that some rains may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northern provinces and Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts today (20). A few spots of rain may occur in the North Central Province and Kurunegala District, while in Uva Province, Ampara and Batticaloa Districts, there may be rain or thundershowers in a few places during the evening or at night.
In the western slopes of Central Highlands, North and North Central Provinces, Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, winds blowing at times may become gusty between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
