The Department of Meteorology says that some rains may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northern provinces and Galle, Matara and Puttalam districts today (19). A few showers of rain may occur in the North Central Province and Kurunegala District, while in Uva Province, Ampara and Batticaloa Districts, there may be rain or thundershowers in a few places during the evening or at night.
In the western slopes of the central mountains, and in the North-Central Province, Puttalam, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, the winds blowing from time to time can become gusty between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
