The Department of Meteorology says that due to the influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (the region where the winds coming from the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere meet) around the island, the current heavy rainy weather condition is expected to continue.
The department also stated that there is a possibility of occasional rain or thundershowers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
In Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in Galle and Matara districts, there is a possibility of heavy rains of more than 100 mm in some places.
In the rest of the island, rain or thundershowers may occur in the evening or at night, and there is a possibility of heavy rains of more than 75 mm in some places.
The Department of Meteorology requests that people take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary solid winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
