The Department of Meteorology says that there is mainly rainless weather in many parts of the island.
Cold weather conditions can be expected in the early morning and there is a possibility of frost in some places in the Nuwara Eliya district, the department said.
Winds are blowing from the northeast and the wind speed is between 20 and 35 kilometres per hour the wind speed can increase to 40 to 50 kilometres per hour from time to time in the offshore areas from Mannar to Puttalam to Colombo and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
From Mannar through Puttalam to Colombo and from Hambantota to Pottuvil, the sea areas off the coast can be rough from time to time.
