Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Southern provinces will experience rain or thundershowers from time to time. The department stated that in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, heavy rains of more than 75 mm may occur.
The department mentioned that there may be several periods of rain in the Northern Province and in the rest of the island, there may be scattered showers or thunderstorms especially in the evening or at night. It further states that the winds blowing from time to time in the western and southern coastal areas can become strong winds between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
