The Department of Meteorology says that rain or thundershowers may occur from time to time in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Southern provinces today (10). The department stated that in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, heavy rains of more than 75 mm may occur.
There may be some rains in the Northern Province, while in the rest of the island, there may be scattered showers or thunderstorms, especially in the evening or at night. The Department of Meteorology urges the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
