The Department of Meteorology says that occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Southern provinces today (May 08). The department mentioned that rain or thundershowers may occur at places in the rest of the island, especially in the evening or at night.

It further states that wind blowing from time to time in the western and southern coastal areas can become gusty winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
