Today (07), the Department of Meteorology says that there may be scattered showers or thunderstorms in many parts of the island after 1.00 pm.
The department stated that some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and North Central Provinces may experience heavy rains of about 100 mm.
In the coastal areas of the Western Province and Galle and Matara Districts, several periods of rain may also occur in the morning and foggy conditions may prevail in the morning in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
