Today (06), the Department of Meteorology says that occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts. The department stated that some places in Sabaragamuwa province and Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts may receive heavy rain of about 75 mm.
In Uva and Central Provinces and in Ampara and Batticaloa Districts, rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the evening or at night, and in North and North-Central Provinces and in Hambantota, Puttalam and Trincomalee districts, winds will gust between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour at times. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
