The Department of Meteorology says that in Eastern, Central and Uva Provinces and Mulativu and Polonnaruwa Districts, there may be scattered showers or thunderstorms especially today (05th) in the evening or during the night. The department stated that there may be some rains in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and in Jaffna and Puttalam districts.
The department further mentions that strong winds blowing occasionally in the western and southern coastal areas can be between 40 and 50 kilometres per hour.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
