The Department of Meteorology says that the Southwest Monsoon conditions are gradually establishing across the island. The department states that rain or thundershowers may occur from time to time in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts today (05).
Some places in Sabaragamuwa province and Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts may experience heavy rains of about 75 mm, and some rains may occur in North-West Province. In Uva and Central Provinces and Ampara and Batticaloa Districts, there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers at a few places in the evening or at night.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
