Today (03), the Department of Meteorology says that rain may occur from time to time in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
The department stated that some places in Sabaragamuwa province, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts may receive heavy rains of more than 100 mm.
There may be some rains in the North and North-West Provinces and in Uva Province and Ampara District, there may be rains or thundershowers at a few places in the evening or at night.
There is a possibility of gusty winds between 50 and 55 kilometres per hour on the western slopes of the central hills, in the northern, north-central and southern provinces and in Trincomalee and Puttalam districts.
The Department of Meteorology requests that people take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
