The Department of Meteorology announces that the depression which was passing through the island has turned into a low-pressure area and moved away from the island yesterday night (02) and hence its impact on the island’s weather will decrease from today (03).
It is stated in the announcement that rain or thundershowers may occur in the Northern, Eastern and Uva provinces and Polonnaruwa district from time to time and rain or thundershowers may occur in the rest of the island during the evening or at night.
There may be some rain will receive in the morning in the Southern Province and some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Uva and Southern Provinces. It further stated that heavy rains of more than 50 mm may occur.
