The Department of Meteorology says that due to the development of a turbulent nature in the lower atmosphere close to Sri Lanka, rain conditions are expected to continue over the island.

The department also mentioned that rain or thunder may occur in many parts of the island in the evening or at night.

There is a possibility of rain in the morning in the Northern, Western and North-Western provinces, Galle and Matara districts.

Some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-West, Uva and Northern Provinces may receive heavy rains of more than 150 mm and heavy rains of more than 100 mm in other parts of the island.

The Department of Meteorology requests that people take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
