Rejecting a ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that the continued attacks on the Gaza Strip are only aimed at weakening the Hamas organization that controls the Gaza Strip and that Israel has no intention of occupying the Gaza Strip.
“Our army is successfully fighting against Hamas militants. Our army has more advantages. There is no need or desire to go to a ceasefire. The Israeli Prime Minister has said that a ceasefire can only be considered if the Hamas militants accept defeat and surrender.
The Prime Minister said this while participating in a summit discussion with America’s ‘Fox News’ news channel.
The United States has continuously said that it supports Israel’s decision to root out Hamas militants. The United States has also indicated to the international community that if Israel goes to a cease-fire at this moment, the Hamas fighters, who have been retreating from the attacks, may become stronger again.
Right now, Israeli forces are surrounding ‘Gaza City‘ in the Gaza Strip and attacking it. More than 50,000 Palestinians have fled Gaza.
Meanwhile, considering humanitarian reasons, the United States has said that Israel has expressed its willingness to stop attacks for four hours and allow the residents of Gaza City to leave the city. (AFP)
