According to the Government Medical Officers Association, there is a shortage of about 100 types of essential medicines with the ongoing economic crisis.
Accordingly, Dr Chamil Wijesinghe, the media spokesperson of the Government Medical Officers’ Association, stated that problems with X-Ray and other radiological tests have also arisen as well as the shortage of paper for taking ECG.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has decided to hold a daily meeting of the relevant special committee to discuss the drugs available in the country.
