The Ceylon Petroleum Statutory Corporation says that media reports that about 300 petrol stations have to be closed daily without fuel are completely untrue.

In a statement, they state that it is normal for certain temporary and short-term restrictions to arise as a result of the decisions taken to distribute fuel stocks with formal management, as it is necessary to distribute the existing fuel stocks on a fair basis covering all sectors.

The Ceylon Petroleum Statutory Corporation further states that 4,000 metric tons of diesel and 3,000 metric tons of gasoline are being distributed to fuel stations on a daily basis, which is a high figure compared to the fuel shortage period.
