Trade Minister Nalin Fernando says that the ship carrying the first consignment of eggs to be imported from India will reach the island in the next two days.
Accordingly, the minister mentioned that it is planned to bring two million eggs to Sri Lanka as the first egg stock.
The government decided to import eggs in order to reduce the existing shortage of eggs and control the price, and the related egg stock is to be used for the bakery industry.
