The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has announced the Sri Lanka squad for the first two matches of the ODI series against Afghanistan which is scheduled to start on June 2nd. The selection committee has taken steps to add Dimuth Karunaratne to the Sri Lanka squad after more than 2 years.
Accordingly, 16 players are included in the squad led by Dasun Shanaka. Dushmantha Chamira has been recalled to the squad and Angelo Mathews has also managed to keep his place. Also, 29-year-old Dushan Hemantha, who has not won any international caps so far, has been included in the squad as a leg-spinner, while Matisha Pathirana, a fast bowler who showed excellent performance in the IPL tournament, has also been named in the squad.
The nominated team has been sent for the approval of the Sports Minister and the tournament between the two countries will start on June 2 in Hambantota. All these 3 matches will be held as day matches.
