The Peradeniya Department of Animal Production and Health (DAPH) has given the Minister of Agriculture the investigation report regarding the animals that died in the two North and East provinces due to the bad weather conditions in recent days.
According to the report, it has been confirmed that the reason for the death of these animals is not an epidemic situation but simply the shock caused by extreme cold.
It is said that because the animals in the northern and eastern provinces are used to very hot weather conditions, it may have been difficult for those animals to withstand the extreme cold caused by the sudden weather changes.
Recently, about 1,660 cows, buffaloes and goats died in the two northern and eastern provinces due to this.
