The Department of Forest Conservation says that the work of the Beattu forest officer at the Gomarankadawala site office, who did not enforce the law regarding the destruction of forests at three places in the Trincomalee Pulmude area, has been suspended with immediate effect.
After an investigation into piling up the Weriyapulattu government forest in Pulmude, cutting trees in the Pulmude government forest in Pankulam and cutting trees in the Suntaneru Kulam forest in Pulmude, the official has been suspended after an investigation.
In this regard, the Department of Forest Conservation says that the officers’ work was done without proper supervision and that a preliminary investigation is being carried out on several senior officers. (Lankadeepa)
