The All Ceylon Egg Producers’ Association says that if the government takes steps to import eggs, eggs will be sold at a lower price than imported eggs.
The Treasurer of the All Ceylon Egg Producers’ Association, Vijaya Alwis said that he came to know that about 16 people have been given tenders for egg import.
Accordingly, if eggs are imported, local eggs will be given less than imported eggs and if an imported egg is given for 25 rupees, a local egg can be given for 20 rupees, he further said.
