Kanchana Wijesekera, the Minister of Power and Energy, said that Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will be made a separate entity owned by the government as the first step in the restructuring of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. Accordingly, the minister also said that it will be possible to find the required investment for the oil refinery, increase the quality, efficiency and capacity of the fuel and reduce the cost.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that the approved number of employees and salary structure of the Petroleum Corporation will be reviewed and digital platforms will be introduced for various functions and services. The Minister further mentioned that there was a special discussion between the senior management of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and Oil Refinery and Minister Kanchana Wijesekera regarding the time and process of implementing these reforms.
