The inaugural session of the third Student Parliament of Ananda College, Colombo, was held recently (25) at the school, presided over by the Secretary General of Parliament, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera.
This program was organized collaboratively by Ananda College and the Communications Department of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, with the objective of providing practical exposure to parliamentary procedures for the students of Ananda College.
The event was attended by Ananda College alumni, including Assistant Secretary General of Parliament Mr. Hansa Abeyratne, Senior Attorney Mr. Harigupta Rohanadeera, and Principal of Ananda College Mr. Lal Dissanayake.
During the event, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera provided students with a comprehensive understanding of parliamentary procedures and operations, detailing the functioning of the Parliament.
The session commenced with the election of the Speaker, followed by the swearing-in of the Prime Minister, the Cabinet, and the members. Subsequently, each minister of the student parliament presented their respective ministry’s proposed action plans to the House.
Certificates and official badges were awarded to the students representing the student parliament headed by the Secretary General of Parliament.
The event was attended by members of the academic staff of Ananda College, invited students from other schools, and parents.
