Central Bank Governor, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe says that Sri Lanka had become a bankrupt state even before it was officially declared as a country that could not pay its debts last April.
Accordingly, the Governor of the Central Bank states that if the program currently implemented by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka is not implemented correctly in the next few years, the country’s economy will once again suffer a severe collapse.
The Governor of the Central Bank further stated that the tax cut in 2019 and the large amount of money to pay off debts caused the current economic crisis.
Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe has mentioned this while informing the Members of Parliament regarding the current economic situation.
