The day before yesterday (12), the Tamil Nadu state government unanimously passed a resolution requesting the resumption of the Sethusamudram project without further delay.
All parties, including the BJP, have supported this proposal. Mr MK Stalin has stated that the Sethusamudram project is an essential project to strengthen the economic growth of India and Tamil Nadu.
The resolution passed by the Tamil Nadu state government also states that the efforts of some forces to further delay the Sethusamudram project are an obstacle to India’s development.
Mr Stalin has pointed out that restarting the Sethusamudram project will provide a good opportunity to develop the economy of Tamil Nadu state and thereby generate new job opportunities.
The Sethusamudram project is a proposed project to create a shallow strait waterway between India and Sri Lanka.
This will create a continuous sea route around the Indian peninsula and ships using that shipping route will not need to go around Sri Lanka. (Lankadeepa)
