The state-run Myanmar News Agency said on Saturday that Myanmar handed over 1000 tons of rice to Sri Lanka at a port in the commercial hub of Yangon.

At the Friday handover ceremony, Union Minister for Commerce U Aung Naing Oo stated that the contribution was made as a show of solidarity from the government and people of Myanmar to the people of Sri Lanka.

He wished for further improvement in the two nations’ friendship and collaboration. J.M. Bandara, the ambassador of Sri Lanka to Myanmar, praised the Myanmar government for the gift and said that Sri Lanka, which is through an economic crisis, will benefit from it.
