Preparations for the Sri Dalada Maligawa pilgrimage, scheduled to commence from 18th April 2025, are currently underway at the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises in Kandy.
As per the instructions of His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and the supervision and guidance of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, various facilities are being prepared to facilitate the devotees who will come to pay homage to the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
Among these, the cleaning of the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises, the provision of necessary sanitary facilities for the devotees, and the preparation of necessary access roads to direct the devotees to the palace premises are among the prime tasks.
As of 12th April 2025, nearly 135 portable and field toilets required for sanitation have been constructed in the premises of the Dalada Maligawa, while 5 baggage terminals, rain shelters, and access roads with steps for disabled devotees have already been completed with the technical assistance of the Army. Furthermore, nearly 100 wooden tables required for the upcoming Dansals have also already been prepared.
Meanwhile, the arrival of devotees for the pilgrimage is expected from 17th April 2025, and the Sri Lanka Army has made all necessary security arrangements to make the event successful.
