Shammi Silva was elected unopposed as the President of Sri Lanka Cricket for the period from 2023 to 2025 in the election held to elect the officers of the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute.
This decision has been announced by the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee, headed by a retired judge of the Court of Appeal, Mrs Malani Gunaratne, and composed of retired High Court Judge Shiromi Perera and Mr Sunil Sirisena, who is retired from the Sri Lanka Administrative Service.
The appointment of Mr Silva represents the third time he has served as president of Sri Lanka Cricket and the second time he has done so without opposition.
