A discussion has been held between Russian authorities and Sri Lankan representatives to buy crude oil from Russia.
Accordingly, the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Government representing Sri Lanka, Minister of Education Susil Premajayanth, Minister of Trade Naleen Fernando and others have participated in this.
In this discussion, former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Dr Saman Weerasinghe stated that Russia has agreed to provide a commercial credit facility to obtain crude oil as a solution to the country’s fuel crisis.
He further stated that the President of Sri Lanka should send a letter to the Russian President stating how much crude oil he needs and that the loan amount should be paid back to Russia within 3 or 6 months.
