Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage today (02) has ordered the acquittal of Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen, who was named as a suspect in the case filed under the Prevention of Terrorism Act regarding the Easter Sunday terror attack, in accordance with the instructions of the Attorney General.
This case was filed alleging that he had close relations with the terrorists who carried out the Easter Sunday terror attack and it is said that this order was issued when the case related to that incident was recalled today.
The Criminal Investigation Department took Rishad Bathiudeen into custody on April 21 last year for questioning in connection with the Easter Sunday bombings and was later released on bail.
