With the improvement of the country’s economy, the Council of Cabinet Ministers decided yesterday (13) to provide immediate public relief under three measures, including the purchase of paddy.
The Council of Cabinet Ministers decided to implement a program to eliminate child malnutrition and improve the nutritional status of pregnant mothers and promptly pay gratuities to over 18,000 workers who have not been paid gratuities since April last year.
The Cabinet also decided to allocate 19 billion rupees for the implementation of this program.
The Council of Ministers met yesterday (13) evening under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
As soon as the government’s economic situation improves, according to the decision of the Cabinet, the three-step program of buying paddy, eliminating malnutrition and improving the nutritional status of pregnant mothers, and paying the money to over 18,000 employees who have not been paid gratuity, will be immediately implemented, stated by a senior official government minister.
