Protests are taking place in the country’s capital, Nairobi, demanding the immediate resignation of Kenyan President William Ruto.

In the past few days, the new financial reforms that the government led by the President of Kenya has been trying to introduce have been met with strong public opposition. President Ruto attempted to increase taxes through the new fiscal reforms.

However, violent protests forced Kenyan President William Ruto to withdraw the tax hike bill. This was because Ruto adopted a strict policy to suppress the protesters. While the police were deployed to subdue the protesters, several protesters lost their lives in police firing.

However, the protests against Ruto are far from over, with protesters and opposition activists demanding his immediate resignation. (AFP)
