During the election period, the Election Commission says that the use of public property for activities that cause the promotion of political parties, groups or candidates or prejudice other parties, groups or candidates should be avoided.
The Election Commission states in a statement that all officials including the Ministry Secretaries and Heads of Departments should focus on restricting the recruitment, promotion and transfer of government officials in the districts where the polling is held.
Accordingly, the Election Commission stated that if such an offence is committed and found guilty in court, a prison sentence of 3 years and a fine of 100,000 rupees can be imposed.
