The All Ceylon Medical Officers’ Association says that aspirin, which is used to reduce blood clotting, has not been available in this country for about 4 months.
Its General Secretary Dr Jayantha Bandara said that the medicines are used to treat patients with heart disease, paralysis and diabetes and the lives of those patients are at risk due to lack of medicines.
The association also warned that if the shortage of drugs in the country continues, the number of preventable deaths will increase.
