Major General Vikum Liyanage has been appointed as the next Commander of the Army. He is also the current Chief of Army Staff.
Accordingly, he is scheduled to assume duties as the new Commander of the Army on June 01.
Acting Chief of Defense Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva will assume duties as the Commander of the Army on the 31st of this month and everything is ready for Major General Vikum Liyanage to assume duties as the Chief of Defense Staff from the 1st of June 2022.
